The best inland sailing in the UK

Yeoman and Kinsman Fleet

This Fleet comprises of the Yeoman and Kinsman Keelboats.

The Yeoman is a fixed fin keel yacht and the Kinsman has a lifting keel.

Both yachts are otherwise identical.

They were designed by Ernest Landamore as a Norfolk Broads day boat to rival the local White Boat in the late 1960’s. There are now some 260 yachts sailing all over the UK.

Here at Rutland Sailing Club we have the largest group of Kinsman. Many have been optimised for racing by increasing their stability and performance over the years. With their large wide cockpit they are an excellent family yacht that can carry 4 people in comfort.

The two types of yacht regularly come onto the second hand market with prices ranging from £2000 to £6000 according to condition.

These yachts race on a regular basis in the Club’s Mixed Cruiser Handicap Fleet on a Saturday afternoon with additional opportunities to race on Thursday Evenings and Sundays.

The fleet Captain is John Vickers (K38 “ Belinda”)
