Double Success for Rutland Team Racers

Published 12:18 on 16 Jun 2022

Rutland team racers had a stunning weekend on the 11-12 June winning both the BSDRA Thames Valley School Event and the Birmingham University Old Joe event.

A young team attended the BSDRA event at Datchet Water on the Saturday and were greeted with sunshine and great breeze, if a little changeable. Sailing with Windsor castle in the background and against Eton School on the water, the team completed the round robin unbeaten. They met Sevenoaks in the semi-finals before going forward to beat Wellington College in the finals. We had other Rutland sailors in the Oakham team too, who narrowly missed beating the Rutland time and a go in the semi-finals.

Meanwhile a different team won the Old Joe, held at South Staffs sailing club. The team who ranged in age by over 40 years combined youthful enthusiasm with experience and also came away successful.

Rutland team racing continues to go from strength to strength both in training at the Club and away from home at events. It is great fun, sociable and a good way to get to know other members. Club team racing, open to all members, runs most Sunday afternoons. Why not come along and join in?
