Bearing sail no. 424 ‘Abi Tan’ was built by Maxim Marine in about 1978. She has a newly polished blue hull and cream topsides, and is fitted with a brand new 3/4 length canvas boat cover.
She lives on a roller trailer, modified for launching at RSC, in a very convenient berth (No. 69) close to the main slipway.
Included in the sale is a Minn Kota trolling outboard motor, which can be mounted on the pantograph bracket on the transom. This is powered by a Solar Panel (10W)
mounted on the fore hatch, linked to a Leisure Battery (110Ah), located in the cabin, with full Charge Control and Monitoring via three analogue instruments. There is also cabin lighting.
The sails consist of a very useable Mainsail ( on a roller boom), a fairly modern Skinny Jib (mounted on a rotastay type system) and an older Genoa.
Her lifting keel mechanism has been re-worked so that it operates smoothly and safely
The cabin is equipped with a full set of 4 white pvc coated bunk cushions, plus curtains to help prevent condensation and there are other assorted cushions for the cockpit. There is also a cabin table, which mounts on top of the keel box.
Other equipment provided includes : an anchor with chain and rope, a striped cotton awning for the cockpit, a selection of fenders warps and mooring lines, 3 life jackets, manual bilge pump, boat hooks etc
So, she’s all ready to go and I last sailed her only a week ago. I have thoroughly enjoyed the last two years with ’ Abi Tan ’ and will be very sorry to say goodbye to her.
These are very popular boats with a large following and the help from other Sailfish owners is fantastic. The Sailfish Association is actually located at RSC.
