More success for Rutland Youth Sailors

Rutland sent a young junior team to the NSSA single handed championship in Toppers at Burton SC this weekend.

In breezy conditions and half the size of most teams they performed fantastically to finish 3rd overall and winning the Under 16 trophy, with a few years to go.

Meanwhile the youth teams were at Farmoor, Oxford for a British Schools Dinghy Racing Association (BSDRA) midlands team racing championship in Fireflies. With cut downs sails, sunshine, and plenty of wind there was plenty of action on the water.

The Rutland team remained in control throughout winning every race. All the round robin races, then winning 2 0 in the semi-final. The team cheered watching the other semi-final as Oakham school (all 3 helms also Rutland HYDRA members ) came through in the third race of their semi-final against MCS, making it a Rutland v Rutland final.

Rutland Raiders kept their clean sheet winning the finals 2 nil.

The teams were back out on the water on Sunday to get some additional practice.

You can't keep Rutland sailors off the water.

Meanwhile at the ILCA (Lasers) qualifiers , Rutland sailors finished second and third in the ILCA4 event (including first female) in the ILCA 6s we had sailors in 11th and 18th (first under 19 girl).

An amazing weekend all round.
