Race Management Support

1084117 orig

Have you volunteered for your Club annual duties yet? If not, and you know how it's done, Club racing needs some Race Management support between now and Christmas so why not spend a couple of hours as a Race Officer, running Club racing on Sunday mornings.

Racing starts at 11:00am and there are three races, run back-to-back, finishing around 1:30-2:00pm, just in time for lunch. If you're happy to volunteer, please book a date on the Rutland Sailing Club website by clicking on "Duties" and following the instructions you see on the page. There will, of course, be a couple of assistants on the boat to help you.

If you are a little rusty then don't worry because you can request some support material telling you how it's done or, if you have an afternoon to spare, an RYA qualified Race Officer will take you out on the Committee boat and run through current thinking on the way courses and start lines are set up, what the flag signals mean and what to do if things go wrong.

If you can do more than one duty but need a confidence booster, a "Shadow Race Officer" who is RYA qualified could be arranged for the first one, so that you have some back-up while you play yourself in and familiarise yourself with how things work for today's Club racing.

Please let the office know A.S.A.P. at sailing@rutlandsailingclub.co.uk if you would like to arrange dates for a refresher session.
