Friday 8th May 7pm start

This is a new venture for Cruiser Fleet talks. On this Friday evening we will be showing a recorded talk from a participant in the Golden Globe single-handed non-stop round the world race. 12 boats started, and the race was won by Robin Knox-Johnson, the only finisher.

The talk, by Ian Herbert-Jones covers the preparation for the race and the sailing round both the Cape of Good Hope and Cape Horn. Also the dramatic ending of his voyage in the South Atlantic and the almost miraculous survival and rescue of the presenter.

It's a gripping tale, with many lessons for anyone interested in blue-water sailing!

We will show the video in the members lounge where the bar will be available..
