Power Boat Instruction
Power Boat Courses
The training is broken down into two sections both of which are recognised RYA qualifications:
(1) RYA Powerboat level 1 and 2 courses. These courses provide the skills and background knowledge to become a powerboat driver, on inland water, in a variety of boats from planning tiller steer, to ribs and Displacement boats.
The level 1 course includes boating safety, boat handling and basic theory. It can be taken as a standalone course or integrated into the level 2 course.
The Level 2 course includes more practice at manoeuvres such as picking up a mooring, anchoring and man overboard recovery. It introduces navigation, pilotage and engine maintenance.
1 day for level 1, 2 days for level 2, times 9am 5pm (generally run midweek)
(2) RYA Safety boat courses. The aim of this course is to introduce the techniques used to rescue dinghies, windsurfers and other water users. You need to be competent with the RYA level 2 first.
The RYA Powerboat courses are designed in a form that deliver the skills that boaters need to be safe and competent.
We aim to teach best practice to make sure that you get the most productive experience from your time with us. The training is designed to meet the needs of those who use small, open powerboats for sports. This might be in connection with another activity such as sailing, sub-aqua, canoeing or water skiing.
