Regatta Weekend

10th July 2021

From Fiona Tylecote (Event Organiser)

On Sat/Sun 10/11 July we will be hosting our Regatta Programme - a mixture of sailing in company and racing. After all Variety is the spice of life!

The sailing activities are pitched so they can be sails in company or competitive racing depending on when you start. Whether you take part in Cruiser Lake Races, Saturday Social Sailing or standard club racing there should be something for you. The idea is to get the whole club out on the water together.

If you haven't made it on to the water yet or want to meet new friends this is your chance.

On Saturday

Navigation race you will need your map of the water and marks

You will be set a course which will include finding the marks.

We will do staggered starts for different fleets as well as a start window for those new to racing this means we will give you a time period when you can start. We then time your start as well as your finish to mean those those who are not happy on a busy start line can still take part.

An On the Water Treasure Hunt starting with a cryptic challenge

You will be given a puzzle to let you know which marks to go to.

There is no set order but there may be an optimal route. Do you start sailing to one before you know them all?

Kids activities : We are hoping to run some on the shore activities for the younger kids so bring the grandchildren too.

Evening team /match-racing

We will do some light hearted Tera team racing and / or Laser 2 match racing in the evening ( weather permitting).

We hope to be able to get food from the canteen so we can stay later and perhaps the odd drink.

On Sunday

The Rutland Horseshoe race or sail in company ( your choice) to the 'corners' of Rutland Water.

Note this means there will be NO CLUB RACING ON JULY 11th

Staggered starts for the different fleets will reduce congestion around the starting area.

Starting will begin at 11ish for Juniors ( exact program to be published soon) and the last start will be the Cruisers at 12:00

We will sail to the furthest mark in both arms via the dam each way.

For some fleets we will look to do more than one lap.

There will be prizes!

PS. The Cruisers will be scored in both the Regatta and the Lake Race Series.
