Ladies Who Launch Light up the Water (Friday 03 December)

Published 16:45 on 6 Dec 2021
The morning was grey and mizzly, the Club was quiet and mournful and the water looked black and wavy, yet 6 ladies, all in single-handers, were determined to sail today. Their rosy cheeks and bright clothing added colour and their lively chatter lit up the session as they enjoyed the manageable conditions. With coach Jon and rib driver Wendy setting different courses, exercises and races they had all of Rutland Water to themselves. Well, someone has to ensure that there are dinghies being sailed out there for the dog walkers to admire! And the sun nearly shone on them to help lighten and brighten the day.
It might take longer to change into drysuits and bigger boots, and longer to rig and derig with cold hands but the extra effort makes for a good workout and a big appetite for lunch: wonderful rewards indeed. Do join us when you can.

PS We hope to sail every Friday until 17 December , then resume on 07 January, weather permitting.
