Active Bystander coaching

Have you ever been in a situation where you want to challenge someone's behaviour - but you didn't know how to do it or what to say?
Club members are invited to attend a short Active Bystander coaching session which aims to help members to challenge microaggressions, harmful comments and behaviours. The training is run by www.activebsytander.co.uk and includes self-coaching techniques to help you keep a cool head when faced with a challenging situation - and assertive language devices which you can use to make sure your voice is heard if you want to raise a concern.
The training will cover a range of topics, including:
- Being comfortable whilst challenging uncomfortable behaviour
- Knowing when it's appropriate to step in and challenge microaggressions, discrimination or bullying
On her recent visit to Rutland, RYA Chief Executive Sara Sutcliffe shared that the RYA directors all completed this training and she recommended it for our committees, volunteers, all members and staff.
The session will be available online or in person (at the Club) on Saturday 11th November 3.00 - 4.30pm.
Club members can reserve a space by booking at rutlandsailingclub.co.uk/event/active-bystander
"By working together we can create a kind, safe and supportive environment at our Club."
