Fancy a Cruise Round the Lake?

On Sunday 13th April the 2025 Lake Race Series begins. There are course maps and Sailing Instructions to download from the website.

All the Lake Races start at 2:00pm.

There are two series running this year:

  • Lake Racing monthly on Sundays from mid April. For yachts and keelboats, with long courses of 7-9 miles for fast boats (e.g. Formula 1, Squib, Beneteau, with PY less than 1200) and shorter courses of around 6 miles for slower boats (e.g. Sailfish, Swift 18, with PY more than 1200). Single-lap courses will have long, easy legs, usually around four marks, starting at the inner end of the Club line (IDM-CS) and finishing across the outer end (CS-ODM). Both courses are designed to take 1 ½ 2 hours, finishing at roughly the same time so that crews can gather on the Club balcony for tea and cakes afterwards.
  • Circumnavigations monthly on Saturdays from late May. For those wanting a more relaxed "Cruise-in-Company" but with points for places. Courses will be varied to suit the day and the weather, with more emphasis on navigation (e.g. sail round marks spelling RUTLAND)
