More Silverware ( and beers) for Rutland Team Racers
Rutland sailors were successful once again this weekend winning the prestigious Cam Cup Team Racing Event. Hosted by Cambridge University in conjunction with Grafham Water Sailing Club the event has been run for many years and is considered one of the hardest to win. The Rutland team have never entered this event before. They sailed well to finish the first day in 3rd overall, then built on this to go on to beat Southampton University in a well fought final.
Rutland won the first race comprehensively, but Southampton came out of the blocks fighting in the second. Rutland put up a resilient fight back and for a while looked like they might claw the race back, but Southampton took it on the line. In the best of 3 Final it was all down to the last race. Rutland got a good start and managed the course well to finish victorious.
Congratulations to Andy McKee, Harry Rowlands, Ben Tylecote , Ella Ashworth, Steve Tylecote and Freya Pembery.
At the same time a different Rutland team were third in the inaugural 'Bath Robe' team racing event hosted by Bath University. The team included Jamie Tylecote, Tom Onions, Alice Lucy, Dylan Beatty, Solomon Wilby and Harry Burge.
